We construct Calabi-Yau manifolds and their mirrors from K3 surfaces. This method was first developed by Borcea and Voisin. We examined their properties torically and checked mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau 4fold case. The proton structure and proton polarizability corrections to the Lamb shift of electronic hydrogen and muonic hydrogen were evaluated on the basis of modern experimental data on deep inelastic structure functions. Numerical value of proton polarizability contribution to (2P-2S) Lamb shift is equal to 4.4 GHz.

Models of string cosmology predict a stochastic background of gravitational waves with a spectrum that is strongly tilted towards high frequencies. I give simple approximate expressions for spectral densities of the cosmic background which can be directly compared with sensitivities of gravitational wave detectors.
